About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 12 The Team: This role reports to the Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy, APAC. In this role, you will be responsible for managing projects focused on understanding, aligning, analyzing, and identifying and actively engaging on a broad range of policy issues related to our business products, capabilities and services across the entire S&P Global portfolio. This role will be active in representing S&P Global on all relevant public policy matters. You will coordinate closely with the business and product organizations and key cross-functional partners across Commercial and Product Leads, Legal, Finance and Communications teams to design and evaluate responses to policy challenges. In addition, you will help develop our internal and external narrative around key policy challenges and engage key policy stakeholders. The Impact: You will help support, contribute to and coordinate S&P Global’s public policy response and opportunities, playing a constructive role on active policy issues in China in consultation with the Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy, APAC. In this capacity you will also collaborate closely with colleagues in commercial, marketing and Public Affairs. You will maintain a strong internal network of cross-divisional relationships in order to build holistic messaging and positioning to communicate and advance our company priorities externally. You have a strong track record in effective communication and relationship management along with excellent analytical and organizational skills. You have a strong policymaker and policy stakeholder network and can work to establish new relationships. You can collaborate seamlessly with your colleagues across teams and are able to develop and implement creative ideas with the discipline to manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment. You have experience either working with or in the Chinese Government, a regulatory agency, a corporate public policy team, trade association, or other government role as well as a demonstrated ability to grasp complex technical and policy issues. As a Senior Manager / Associate Director, you will help deliver S&P Global China’s public policy strategy focusing on the entire S&P Global portfolio. As a member of S&P Global’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you will help achieve successful outcomes related to advancing the businesses’ positions on public policy matters. In addition, under the direction of the Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy for APAC you will help lead work advising our internal teams on the public policy implications of their products and services. As a key team member of S&P Global’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you will help shape various policy issues with policy makers and influencers inside and outside of government. You will lead work advising our internal teams on the public policy implications of their products and services, working with a closely coordinated and cross-functional global team to help shape the policy landscape around policy issues. You will track various regulatory proposals and analyze their potential impact on S&P Global’s businesses and will help develop and implement strategies for engaging in public policy debates. You will provide project management to support key strategic and operational priorities of S&P Global and the policy organization. Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for APAC, you will work closely with the business division leaders, and external stakeholders to support all advocacy and policy outreach efforts and campaigns based off of S&P Global’s priority issues. Build relationships with policy makers, governmental and regulatory bodies, to understand and interpret the legislative and regulatory landscape including identifying opportunities and risks for customers. Help provide strategic direction and co-ordination to shape the future of the company by interpreting policy legislative and regulatory initiatives from China. Advocate to influence decisions in the policy space in the form of input into policy decisions, public speaking and representing the company’s interests, as needed. Advise S&P Global division leaders on political and policy risks impacting the business and align with advocacy efforts to mitigate policy, regulatory and governmental risks to the businesses. Coordinate closely across the Global Government Affairs and Public Policy Team to provide best-in-class engagement support for senior leaders across the company on thought leadership priorities, bilateral meetings, trade association partnerships, and public policy-related events. Identify opportunities for senior leadership to provide thought leadership to and build relationships with key government officials, trade groups and other key industry stakeholders and influencers. Advise on political environment and understand how changes in government, and/or policy trends may impact our business operations in the region. Manage internal communication and internal relationships, as well as external relationships with governments, associations and third parties to promote S&P Global policy priorities. Serve as a partner to and with SPGI legal, compliance, and enterprise risk teams to flag potential risks to the company. Co-ordinate with outside groups and associations in order to have a clear understanding of how industry may be reacting to changes in the landscape, as well as staying connected to local regulatory bodies. Manage internal communication and internal relationships as well as external relationships with government, associations and third parties to promote SPGI policy priorities. Education and thought leadership both internally and externally, including at the senior executive level. Anticipate changes in market direction and make strategic recommendations accordingly so that the company is prepared ahead of time for any significant changes. Serve as a liaison to work closely with commercial, marketing, legal, compliance, and enterprise risk teams to flag potential risks and identify proactive policy changes we can promote with policymakers. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. At least 8 years of experience working within government, corporate regulatory, think tanks, or public interest groups in the public policy space in China Experience in financial services, energy, commodities, technology, or data industry and / or surrounding policy environments. Strong relationships and influencer network in China Experience working and executing strategies with international teams and stakeholders. Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese Excellent personal, political, analytical and communications skills and high attention to detail. Bonus Qualifications: Experience in engaging local governments in China Business fluency in another Asian language Ability to lead and evaluate issues independently and in a fast-paced environment.
