Position Overview: The Boeing Defence India team is currently seeking a Senior Manager – BDI Support Engineering to lead our Support Engineering organization. This position will be based out at New Delhi, India. The successful candidate will manage engineers and first-level managers, develop and execute departmental plans and policies, acquire and manage resources, oversee supplier technical performance, and drive continuous improvement. This role requires strong technical judgment, excellent stakeholder management, and proven leadership in delivering high-quality engineering support solutions. Position Responsibilities: Manage and coach a team of engineers and first-level managers in Support Engineering to meet operational and program objectives. Develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures aligned with business and technical strategies, goals and objectives. Provide technical oversight and approval of engineering approaches, products, processes and deliverables. Acquire and allocate resources to support department activities, including internal staffing and supplier management. Provide technical management of suppliers and ensure supplier deliverables meet quality, schedule and cost expectations. Lead and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance product/support quality. Build and maintain productive relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports to ensure alignment and successful outcomes. Participate in departmental budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting. Drive talent development—recruit, develop, motivate and retain high-performing teams; conduct performance reviews and career development planning. Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, company policies and regulatory requirements. Provide leadership and contribute to program safety review board. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION. 15+ years of progressive engineering experience with at least 3 years in a people-leadership role managing engineers and/or first-level managers. Demonstrated experience in support engineering, technical program management, or related functions. Proven ability to develop and execute departmental plans, policies and process improvements. Experience managing supplier technical performance and coordinating multi-organization activities. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to make sound technical judgments and approve engineering approaches and deliverables. Proven ability to hire, develop, and motivate teams; experience conducting performance management and career development. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated industries. Familiarity with quality systems (e.g., AS9100), configuration management and product support processes. Advanced project or program management training or certification (e.g., PMP). Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and complex technical initiatives. Master’s degree preferred.
