DESCRIPTION

This is a senior role within the team, leading the Regulatory Control and Governance portfolio of work, and supporting the CRO in creating and maintaining an environment in which senior management and the business are able to comply with UK regulatory requirements.
The role holder will work with stakeholders across the firm to ensure that Chetwood has fit-for-purpose systems and processes in place to manage regulatory risk, deliver fair customer outcomes and operate an efficient and fit for purpose corporate governance framework. They will be a trusted advisor to the business with particular expertise in consumer lending regulation and SMCR.
(This role is a 12 month FTC)
Compliance and Governance is part of the broader second line Risk function. We work collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for our customers, colleagues and the company as a whole.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Expert knowledge in retail banking regulation, particularly CONC (cards and personal loans), SYSC, SMCR
  • MCOB knowledge would be an advantage
  • BCOBS knowledge would be an advantage
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A pragmatic approach to risk management
  • Experience of digital banking/financial services
Responsibilities
  • Identify and report on key regulatory priorities through horizon scanning;
  • Oversee the implementation and provide compliance advice on regulatory change;
  • Manage and oversee the creation and delivery of compliance training;
  • Engaging with the regulator as required by the CRO, including tracking actions and coordinating responses to requests for information.
  • Develop, review and improve policies, procedures, systems and controls within the Compliance function;
  • Ensure that the bank’s executive and Board-level governance framework operates efficiently; with a key deliverable being the timely and accurate production of meeting packs, minutes and action logs;
  • Develop policy and procedure to identify, track and deliver key corporate governance activities (as defined in legislation and best practice guidelines);
  • Oversee the effective operation of SMCR administration across the bank, ensure that key activities are completed in full and on time;
  • Maintain the firm’s Management Responsibilities Map;
  • Act as a leader in the Risk team and a role model for risk management practice and culture across the business.
