This role is based in our Leeds office. You’ll be expected to be on-site three days per week to support team collaboration and project delivery.

Data Governance is essential to both protect and enable Asda to derive more value from its data. We are looking for a seasoned Senior Data Governance Manager to join the Asda Data Senior Leadership team. To lead the development and implementation of Asda’s data governance capability.

ABOUT YOU (QUALIFICATIONS)

  • You are a great communicator and facilitator, able to work with and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • You have a proven background in data management and governance teams to deliver measurable benefits and a good knowledge of the main frameworks, tools and technologies in this space.
  • You will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, policies, regulations and industry standards. With practical experience of running training and education programmes across large organisations.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and leading a high performing data governance function, including data quality, data management and data governance roles.
  • Developing and shaping data governance strategies and frameworks, including coordinating data management, governance and engagement activities across Asda. Ensuring adherence to data policies, standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the business to embed data ownership and stewardship, improving data understanding, accuracy and efficacy in the organisation through improvement initiatives. Ensuring data is appropriately managed and classified throughout its lifecycle.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance data literacy across the organisation by promoting awareness of data usage practices, privacy standards, and governance frameworks, while collaborating closely with internal risk and audit teams
  • Implementing best practice and new toolkits to define and manage business rules, data quality, master data and metadata. Ensuring appropriate data quality management is in place, including issue identification, logging, route cause analysis and processes for resolution.
  • Working with data architecture, engineering and service management teams to ensure data lineage is identified, mapped, documented and embedded in the Enterprise Data Model.
