About the Team The Developer Infrastructure team at Klaviyo is at the heart of our engineering organization, dedicated to accelerating Klaviyo development. We build and maintain the "paved path" that allows engineers to maximize their focus on business objectives by minimizing time spent on build and deployment systems, foundational software "building blocks," and development environments. What You'll Do As a Senior Manager of Developer Infrastructure, you will be responsible for leading a team focused on delivering a world-class developer experience. Your role will involve: Strategic Leadership: Define the technical vision and roadmap for developer infrastructure, aligning with Klaviyo's overarching engineering and business goals. Team Development & Standards: Provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities for engineers and other leaders, facilitate cross-organizational projects, and establish clear engineering standards for the organization. Enhance Developer Productivity: Drive initiatives to improve platform cycle time metrics across the board, including PR CI Speed, Human Code Review Pickup Time, and Commit Velocity by Repo. This involves a relentless focus on reducing toil and increasing engineering efficiency. Optimize Development Environments: Champion the improvement of local development environments, addressing challenges such complex service setups and ephemeral test environments. Streamline CI/CD Pipelines: Lead the evolution of our Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines Elevate Code Quality & Testing: Oversee the development of robust testing frameworks, including ephemeral test environments for realistic pre-production testing, standardized data generation, and comprehensive flaky test remediation. Expand code quality enforcement through typechecking and linting, and improve documentation for testing best practices. Advance AI Enablement: Lead the integration and safe adoption of AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) into the development workflow, exploring use cases for code completion, test generation, documentation discovery (via chatbots), and internal process automation. Ensure proper configuration and provide guidance for effective AI usage. What You'll Bring To succeed in this role, you should possess a combination of strong technical expertise and proven leadership abilities: Experience: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2+ years in a Senior Management or similar role preferably in developer infrastructure or platform engineering. Experience leading other engineering managers. Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, local development environments, and cloud infrastructure (AWS). Programming Languages: While not expected to be a regular code contributor, you should have proficiency in Python, Typescript, and/or Go, as these are primary languages in our environments. Distributed Systems: Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and related deployment platforms. Problem Solver: A track record of diagnosing and solving complex technical challenges related to developer workflows, build systems, and testing. Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to inspire, mentor, and grow a team of highly skilled engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical strategies, influence stakeholders, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. You’ve already experimented with AI in work or personal projects, and you’re excited to dive in and learn fast. You’re hungry to responsibly explore new AI tools and workflows, finding ways to make your work smarter and more efficient. Nice to Have Experience with specific tools such as Pants, FastAPI, Django, React, Terraform, Buildkite. Background in performance optimization Familiarity with complex data management for testing, including large datasets and production-like data replication. The range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all our US locations. The base salary offered for this position is determined by several factors, including the applicant’s job-related skills, relevant experience, education or training, and work location. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package may include participation in the company’s annual cash bonus plan, variable compensation (OTE) for sales and customer success roles, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
