Job Summary:
The Senior Manager / Director of Procurement – MEP leads sourcing and procurement for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing in commercial construction, driving cost savings, supplier partnerships, and compliance to ensure project continuity. The ideal candidate should be bold, persuasive, and a resilient professional, thriving in high-stakes environments and influencing at all levels.
This role is based in Brentwood, TN.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field required. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in the MEP/commercial construction industry with significant category knowledge of electrical, HVAC, or plumbing.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, managing multi-site procurement operations or large-scale sourcing initiatives.
  • Proven track record negotiating with national distributors (e.g., Wesco, Graybar, Ferguson, Carrier, Trane) and securing rebates, pricing agreements, and supply continuity.
  • Experience influencing procurement adoption across decentralized operating companies.

  • Relentless drive for results with a bias for action.
  • Persuasive communicator with exceptional negotiation skills; able to influence senior executives, project managers, and field staff.
  • Financially astute—strong understanding of how procurement savings impact EBITDA and working capital

  • Data-driven and detail-oriented, with the ability to simplify complexity and enforce compliance.

Specialized Training:

  • CPSM, C.P.M., or Lean/Six Sigma certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction procurement systems (e.g., Spectrum, Procore, Viewpoint) a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for MEP categories (electrical supplies, HVAC, plumbing, equipment rental, and services) that reduce costs, ensure material availability, and support large-scale commercial projects.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and contracts with distributors, OEMs, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, rebate structures, and long-term agreements.
  • Build and enforce a preferred supplier program across operating companies, driving compliance and measurable savings while managing supplier performance and accountability.
  • Partner with estimating, project management, and field operations teams to align procurement strategies with jobsite requirements, ensuring timely delivery and reduced project delays.
  • Implement procurement governance, policies, and exception processes that bring discipline, consistency, and visibility across projects and OpCos.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop procurement professionals to build a high-performing team with expertise in MEP categories.
  • Track and report procurement KPIs, savings delivered to EBITDA, and supplier compliance for executive leadership and private equity stakeholders.
