JOB DESCRIPTION:

Enterprise Payments drives thought leadership, harmonization of strategy, empowerment of Lines of Business, external collaboration, effective use of platforms, and safety & security of payments across the enterprise.
The Standards and Monitoring Team is responsible for maturing payments governance across the Enterprise through more consistent management and oversight of standards and risk, driving operational excellence, and leading advocacy efforts through industry relationships and strategic partnerships to advance TD’s payments strategy.

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Payments, Standards and Monitoring, this role is accountable for maturing enterprise level payments oversight and governance, strengthening specific industry relationships, and provides expert support to change initiatives. The Sr Manager, Standards and Monitoring promotes an understanding of the payments landscape including operating rules and regulations, anticipated change in the payment ecosystem and implications to TD through strong relationships with segment, technology, operational teams and control functions across the enterprise.

  • Play key role in coordinating and ensuring end-to-end enterprise payments oversight through effective implementation of the governance and control strategy, monitoring and reporting in support of Enterprise Payments’ mandate to mature enterprise payments risk transparency.
  • Act as a strategic partner to leaders on the management of the Payments modernization portfolio, with industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and identifying end to end operational efficiencies and risks/opportunities.
  • Heighten awareness of and influence key industry/regulatory developments that impact payments systems by providing leadership and advocacy as TD’s Payments representative with certain FMIs, networks and regulatory bodies in Canada
  • Development of and/or lead implementation of standards, policies, procedures, and solutions that mitigate risk and maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead, facilitate or actively generate action and remediation plans that address industry, risk, and governance issues.
  • Facilitate relevant governance meetings or committees, provide specialized advice / support to management / leadership and respective teams for area(s) of specialization with industry, external and internal, enterprise and business awareness
  • Provide expertise to payments modernization teams and internal/external partners – providing insight, business expertise and recommendations on operational infrastructure, processes and operating regulations/policies.
  • The position requires relationship and influencing skills with a proven ability to understand the details while translating key messages to senior leadership and cross-functional forums.

SHARED ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Partner with 1B/Operational Risk/ Audit and other Risk partners to guide oversight and key areas of intervention
  • Partner with LOB and Operations teams to synthesize rules, standards and ensure safety/ soundness across payments for TDBG and our customers
  • Partner with Payments LOB to ensure policies are adopted and advocate for change with external networks where appropriate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in Payments Industry is considered an asset
  • Undergraduate Degree; 10+ years relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently as a lead within a specialized business management function and provide direction, specialized knowledge, advice and guidance to various stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Ability to oversee/lead a variety of complex initiatives end-to-end (primarily on short- to medium- term issues requiring specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross-functional processes).
  • Confident in providing guidance and influencing multiple teams across a broad spectrum of initiatives and functional domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment where flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
