COMPANY OVERVIEW
Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Facilities Manager oversees the successful operation of facility, laboratory and business functions at Kairos Power’s Albuquerque location. He/she is responsible for ensuring the facility is operating safely and efficiently, to maximize the life of equipment and reduce the risk of failure. This individual sets objectives for and lead multiple projects and ongoing work activities to ensure on time and within budget completion and leading teams at Kairos Power’s various locations. Projects are both routine and specialized, and may include work with HVAC & refrigeration, moving contractors, electricians, plumbers, janitorial, specialized lock & key vendors, and other facilities areas. The role emphasizes strategic planning, operational excellence and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
- 8+ years of experience in facilities management role.
- Experience must include hands-on work in building systems including mechanical, electrical systems and/or site utilities.
- Experience must include facilities management and operations, design, renovations, repairs, and construction management.
- Experience in managing projects, contractors, consultants, and geographically separated facilities teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing procurement processes, writing scopes of work and negotiating service contracts.
- Willing to function as after hours contact for facilities emergencies and be accessible via phone.
- Able to comfortably lift, push and pull 50 pounds.
- Current and valid CPR certification.
- Experience managing facilities that support laboratory, cleanroom, R&D, or highly regulated environments is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting capital planning, asset lifecycle forecasting and facilities-related cost modeling is a plus.
- Certification such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facilities Management Professional (FMP) or similar credential from IFMA or BOMA is a plus but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Familiarity with building management, facilities maintenance ticketing and other various facilities-related software.
- Team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, fire and life safety codes, ADA requirements, OSHA regulations, and environmental health standards.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical manuals related to building systems.
- Skilled in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actions to ensure operational reliability.
- Ability to manage budgets, track expenditures and prepare cost analyses related to facility operations and projects.
- Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills to ensure quality service delivery and cost efficiency.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff and technicians.
- Ability to work with highly collaborative team.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others.
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge.
