SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a strategic and collaborative finance leader who brings:

  • Extensive experience in management accounting, with strong knowledge of financial and accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to influence and support stakeholders using complex financial data, trend analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Strategic leadership capability, with a track record of shaping finance functions through thought leadership and effective team management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights and reports clearly to executive leadership.
  • Experience leading change and process improvement, including solving complex problems in environments without clear precedent.
  • Strong business acumen, with a detail-oriented, analytical mindset and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, both internally and externally, to enhance performance and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced financial modelling, with the ability to build and interpret complex models
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation platforms is highly regarded
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Senior Manager, Finance Business Partnering, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the financial strategy at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office (VGSO). This role is responsible for embedding a finance business partnering model that fosters strong, trusted relationships across the organisation and delivers data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.

You will:

  • Lead a high-performing team to deliver both operational and strategic financial and procurement support to VGSO’s branches.
  • Establish and embed a business partnering approach, ensuring finance is a proactive and trusted advisor across the organisation.
  • Manage key financial processes, including month-end reporting, forecasting, and the annual budget cycle.
  • Partner with senior leadership to drive informed decision-making, optimise financial performance, and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Uplift commercial capability across VGSO through education, leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee cost management and procurement governance
