The Senior Manager of Finance Operations is responsible for supervising finance controls, reconciliations, technical accounting and operational processes for accounts receivables and accounts payables.
This role will lead the finance operations for those two areas to 1) deliver technical accounting review and guidance, 2) provide quality assessment and feedback on reconciliations to meet Aviva’s Global Blackline framework requirement, 3) lead the team to complete audit walkthroughs and control testing, 4) provide documentation and training to strengthen accounting technical skills as applicable, and to 5) collaborate with Billing Operations and various IT groups to ensure proper delivery of finance objectives.
Further, the Accounting Senior Manager will also provide guidance, collaboration and support on certain operational projects that spans over +3 years. For example, the Senior Manager will provide input to review technical accounting mapping and posting rules as required, review workflows and reporting requirements.
This role will also lead two finance operations managers and a group of analysts to implement actions of operational improvement and simplification.
This role reports directly to the AVP Finance Operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical review and guidance on AR/AP workflows and control documentation.
  • Complete Finance Project and process enhancement initiatives.
  • Communicate and collaborate with various partnerships to ensure controls and transformation objectives are met
  • Ensure key financial controls exist and timely remediation of operational audit issue and meet FRCF standard.
  • Uphold Aviva Finance visions in terms of value creation, customer service focus and process simplification.
  • Effectively lead the AR and AP operations team to achieve company goals while developing and retaining top talents.
  • Mentoring a group of finance managers, analysts and senior analysts, including setting up the short-long term goals, 1:1 coaching.

What you’ll bring:

  • Designated accounting professionals with CA, CGA, CMA qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience with technical accounting (accounts receivables, expense and revenue recognition, IFRS 17 and more)
  • Experience with working with finance operational systems and processes. Familiar with accounting systems.
  • Strong problem solving skills, accountability and ownership.
  • Strong sense of customer focus, quality results oriented, managing collaborator’s expectation and timely communication.
  • Broad business knowledge in Finance accounting / reporting /planning, IT/ Systems, Underwriting, Claims Operations, Reserving, IFRS17.
  • Promote collaboration, flexibility and adaptability, and collaborative efforts with other teams.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills and staff management.
  • The candidate will have 7 plus years in a progressive leadership role, specifically within finance operations and strong exposure to financial systems implementation.
  • Preferably experience with Property & Casualty Insurance or Life Insurance.
  • Prior work in a financial reporting/operations environment and familiar with IFRS control requirements.
  • Experience as a people manager and led teams to complete finance results.
