Description:
OVERVIEW
The purpose of this role is to lead the Financial Reporting, Tax & Performance function in Fund Operations division, and build and represent MUFG Corporate Markets and to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, distribution, tax and performance reporting for our clients.
The role requires strong leadership skills with responsibility for the performance of the high performing team, both locally and the Mumbai Hub; including the achievement of KPIs, effective allocation and performance of resources, regulatory requirements for compliance, streamlining and automating processes, involved in new business, setting up of new client funds, collaborate with investment operation teams and investment.
EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- 10+ years of experience in a similar role and 5+ years of managerial experience
- Accounting qualification (CPA, CA) is preferable, otherwise a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards and taxation affecting the managed funds industry
- Experience in driving initiatives focused on simplifying and standardising processes (e.g. through automation) to enhance efficiency and promote smarter working practices is desirable
- Sound knowledge of financial markets, investment process and instruments
- Thorough understanding of performance measurement, attribution and risk measurement models
- Experience in managing P&L statements to drive financial performance and ensuring operational profitability
- Collaborates and communicates well with stakeholders with ability to influence and drive outcomes
- Ability to lead multiple and diverse teams across various operational disciplines
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, leveraging tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to enhance productivity and streamline reporting processes
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities that lead to effective decision making

Responsibilities:
Strategic Focus
- Contribute to the achievement of strategic Fund Op strategic business goals Ensure delivery of performance measurement and FactSet attribution reporting to clients
- Conduct independent, proactive and full ownership of processes and delivering client outcomes
- Partner with business sponsors on business initiatives to develop new products and services for clients
- Accountable for delivery of continuous improvement project work to improve service quality and drive efficiency such as automation
- Manage and influence the commercial performance of the operational team to ensure efficiencies, effective cost management and growth strategy for the Team – requires a focus on the profitability and maintenance of the P&L of their teams
- Operational Management
- Represent the firm in the new client business processes RFP, Due Diligence through to the onboarding process
- Ensure tax reporting for all clients are completed accurately and within client Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Continually review processes to improve operational efficiency
- Accountable for ensuring client deliverables are completed on time whilst implementing controls to maintain a high standard of accuracy (and minimal to no errors)
People Leadership
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to provide insightful financial advice and support decision-making
- Manage and coach a high-performing financial reporting and performance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Provide senior leadership and direction to all operational managers and team members to ensure the development of a high-performing team, including coaching and development, effective performance reviews and quality selection decisions
- Development and training of staff in accordance with operational objectives and core values of MUFG Corporate Markets, contributing to succession planning and individual career development of the staff
- Proactively seek development opportunities to foster and build strong and agile teams, both locally and in India
Governance & Risk
- Promote a risk management culture, and effectively limit risk exposure to MUFG Corporate Markets with strategies to mitigate risk
- Ensure post trade compliance monitoring is complete for all clients
- Engaging and acting as key liaison for the External Auditors and clients
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial standards. Financial standards as per AASB
- Ensure all tax deliverables are aligned with ATO guidelines
- Provide subject matter expertise in financial and regulatory reporting to clients and external auditors
