Your role within the team The Senior Manager, Government Affairs is a high-impact standalone opportunity to lead Government Affairs for H&H across ANZ, with broader support across Asia including Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and China. You’ll shape and deliver advocacy strategies, build trusted relationships with State and Federal Government, and provide strategic advice on political and regulatory developments. Partnering closely with senior business leaders, you’ll identify risks and opportunities, support regional priorities across Adult, Baby and Pet Nutrition, and help advance H&H’s growth agenda across ANZ and Asia. Reporting to the Managing Director, ANZ, with a dotted line to the CEO ANZ + ASIA for Asia trade matters, this role offers real influence, visibility and impact. Key responsibilities include: * Build and maintain strong government, industry and stakeholder relationships that elevate H&H’s profile and support advocacy priorities. * Monitor government policy, regulatory and trade developments across ANZ and Asia, identifying risks, opportunities and strategic alignment for H&H. * Support new market access and export initiatives by identifying relevant government programs, trade pathways and partnership opportunities. * Partner with senior business leaders to engage with Federal and State Government, industry bodies, R&D stakeholders and international agencies. * Lead Government Affairs activity, including planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, reporting and administration. * Manage government grant and incentive opportunities, including applications, monitoring, reporting and compliance requirements. * Work with external agencies and industry partners to help resolve trade barriers and unlock opportunities across key markets. * Collaborate with industry bodies to progress initiatives that support sector development and H&H’s broader business objectives. To make sure we’re setting new starters up for success, we ask that you meet a few criteria relevant to the role to be considered for this opportunity: * 7+ years’ experience working with State and/or Federal Government, either in-house or through external relationship management. * Strong understanding of ANZ trade, investment, policy and regulatory environments, with the ability to translate developments into business insight. * Experience engaging with State and/or Federal Government in at least one other Asian market. * Background in government, regulatory or policy advocacy, or experience representing an organisation within the government affairs landscape, such as DFAT, DAFF or TGA. * Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with confidence partnering with senior leaders, government agencies and industry bodies. * Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing work, manage expectations and deliver through ambiguity. * A tertiary qualification in Business or Commerce, along with experience engaging with industry groups such as CMA, AFGC or ACBC, is desirable. * Exposure to Asian trade, investment, political and regulatory environments, including engagement with government officials or bodies across Asia and China, is advantageous.
