QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Australian labour relations, including enterprise bargaining and dispute resolution.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian employment law, including recent updates to wage theft legislation and flexible work rights.
  • Proven experience in organisational design, talent management, and HR compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed, global environment with agility and resilience.
  • Experience in HR technology platforms and understanding of AI’s role in HR is advantageous.
  • Industry experience in aviation or transport is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

CHC Helicopter is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Human Resources with a strong background in Labour and Industrial Relations.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Global HR and the Operations Director for APAC, this role partners closely with the Australian leadership team to deliver strategic HR initiatives, lead enterprise bargaining, and ensure compliance with evolving employment legislation. The role also oversees all HR activities across the region in collaboration with the Australian HR team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and deliver strategic and tactical labour and industrial relations initiatives in compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 and recent reforms.
  • Manage enterprise bargaining agreements (EBAs), including negotiation strategy, stakeholder engagement, and dispute resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade unions, regulators, and internal stakeholders to foster cooperative industrial relations.
  • Provide expert interpretation of modern awards, employment contracts, and HR policies, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Advise and support management in performance management, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations, with a focus on psychosocial safety.
  • Drive organisational change initiatives including restructuring, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Coach and mentor line managers on effective people management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, flexibility, and skills-based development, aligned with current workforce expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with Right to Disconnect, Wage Theft laws, and Flexible Work Arrangements.
  • Lead HR audits and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
  • Champion mental health and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring alignment with psychosocial safety obligations and fostering a supportive work environment.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all levels of the organisation, embedding inclusive practices into HR strategy and operations.
  • Travel may be required across Australian base locations, occasionally on short notice.
  • Contribute to broader HR projects and initiatives as required.
