The Role As a Manager - Indirect tax, you will play a key role in managing and developing Etraveli Group’s indirect tax position across multiple jurisdictions. You will work closely with the Group Tax Director and act as a central advisor within the group, driving compliance, advisory matters, audits, and business projects. The role is highly strategic with significant impact on business operations. This role is well suited for a candidate with a strong academic background in indirect tax / VAT and significant exposure to the field in an international group or advisory environment, who is ready to take ownership of VAT matters in a complex, fast-growing, cross-border e-com business. Key Responsibilities VAT Compliance & Reporting Oversee and ensure the integrity of VAT compliance processes across multiple EU and non-EU jurisdictions. Monitor and manage VAT registrations, reporting obligations, and changes in VAT legislation affecting the group. Ensure high-quality, defensible VAT documentation and audit-ready files. VAT Advisory & Business partnership Key business partner on VAT implications of new products, markets, restructurings, and international expansions. Lead in assessing VAT treatment for complex flows, intercompany transactions, and digital services. Lead and manage complex VAT projects globally in collaboration with external advisors, ensuring strategic alignment and high technical quality. Take active ownership of the adaptation of our finance system environment to changes within digitalization and AI. Develop internal VAT guidelines, memos, and position papers. Audit & Tax Authority Interaction Actively lead VAT audits, reviews, and information requests from tax authorities. Manage relationships with external advisors and internal stakeholders. Assess audit outcome and define remediation actions. Group Tax & Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with the Group Tax Team on group-wide VAT topics, risk areas, and process improvements. Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Product, and Commercial teams to embed VAT awareness in business processes. Actively support tax reporting processes and contribute to strengthening the group’s tax control framework. Requirements Education & Background Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Taxation, Tax Law, Accounting, or Economics with a specialization in taxation, or a closely related field with significant academic exposure to tax law and VAT. 8-10 years of professional experience in VAT or indirect tax, ideally gained within: a multinational group - preferably within tech, e-commerce or the travel industry and/or a Big 4 or reputable tax advisory firm with exposure to international group clients. Technical Skills Strong expertise in EU VAT principles; including cross-border supplies and complex transaction flows; exposure to non-EU VAT regimes is an advantage. Good working knowledge of Swedish VAT is expected. Proven experience with VAT compliance, reconciliations, and audit support. General good knowledge of accounting Strong understanding of group structures and cross-border business models. Demonstrated experience leading complex VAT-related projects in a multi-jurisdictional environment. Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 is a plus). Personal Attributes Highly Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented. Proactive and solution-oriented, collaborative, able to operate in a fast-paced international environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of VAT related projects. Strong communication skills in English (Swedish is a plus, not a requirement). Willing to travel occasionally.
