Description
Job Type: Full-time | Location: Sydney |Work Location Type: #onsite IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in. The Senior Manager, Integrated Operations Center (APAC) will take ownership of two critical operational functions from our Sydney hub: the L1 Reliability & Observability team and the L2 TOC Network and Systems Specialists. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of both teams, the end-to-end incident lifecycle, continuous improvement of monitoring and observability practices, and the ongoing development of operational capability across the APAC region. As a frontline senior leader, you will operate at the intersection of reliability engineering, network operations, and service management – ensuring that both tiers function cohesively, escalate effectively, and continuously mature their capabilities. You will partner closely with global IOC leadership, Infrastructure, Network, Applications, and Facilities teams, and will play a key role in ensuring IREN’s operational standards are consistently upheld across time zones. This role requires exceptional people leadership, the ability to manage competing operational priorities across two specialized teams, a strong command of incident and change management, and a drive to build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and disciplined execution. * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) * 8–10+ years of experience in technical operations (NOC/SOC/IOC or equivalent), with at least 3–5 years in a management or senior team lead role overseeing a 24x7 operations function * Demonstrated experience leading both monitoring/reliability (L1) and network/systems engineering (L2) teams, with a clear understanding of how the two tiers interact and escalate * Strong working knowledge of large-scale GPU/compute clusters and high-availability data centre infrastructure * Proven ability to lead, train, and develop operations staff; builds team capability and retains talent in a high-growth, demanding environment * Deep expertise in major incident management – from detection through to resolution, RCA, and post-incident review – with a command presence that instils confidence under pressure * Experience defining, enforcing, and continuously improving SOPs, operational policies, escalation paths, and runbooks across multi-tier operations teams * Demonstrated experience with ITSM frameworks and platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira); ITIL 4 certification or equivalent is highly desirable * Proficiency with enterprise monitoring, observability, and alerting platforms (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, PagerDuty, BigPanda) * Experience analysing KPIs, SLAs, and incident trends to identify recurring issues and drive continuous process and tooling improvements * Strong vendor and stakeholder management experience, including managing customer escalations and communicating clearly with senior executive leadership * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex operational and technical issues into clear, business-focused insights * IT certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or ISO 22301 Implementer are a plus * Provide direct leadership and day-to-day management of the L1 Reliability & Observability team and the L2 TOC Network and Systems Specialists, ensuring both teams are appropriately staffed, trained, and performing to standard * Establish and maintain 24x7 operational coverage schedules across both teams, ensuring adequate resourcing for planned and unplanned workloads * Coach, mentor, and develop team members; set clear performance expectations, accountability standards, and career development pathways * Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across both operational tiers * Lead recruitment, onboarding, and capability uplift activities to build a high-performing APAC operations function * Oversee the full incident lifecycle across L1 and L2 – from detection and triage through to escalation, resolution, and post-incident review – ensuring alignment with internal SLAs and customer-facing commitments * Define, maintain, and continuously improve IOC policies, SOPs, escalation frameworks, and runbooks across both teams * Ensure clear, timely, and accurate communication during major incidents to senior leadership and affected stakeholders * Manage customer escalations, RCAs, and action item follow-through; ensure strong documentation and accountability for remediation commitments * Coordinate with global IOC leadership and other IREN teams to maintain a robust escalation framework capable of responding to all categories of operational issues * Work with technical and operational teams to ensure all changes are appropriately reviewed, scheduled, and communicated – supporting a disciplined change management culture * Oversee the L1 team’s monitoring and observability function; drive iterative improvement of proactive monitoring coverage, alert fidelity, and noise reduction across the IREN technology estate * Analyse ticketing patterns, operational data, and incident trends to identify recurring issues and lead targeted improvement initiatives across process and tooling * Implement monitoring for the global IREN technical infrastructure, inclusive of site, corporate, and customer-related operations – ensuring APAC coverage integrates seamlessly with the global IOC * Champion the adoption of AIOps and observability tooling improvements within the IOC environment; partner with Infrastructure and Applications teams on integration requirements and rollout * Plan and execute operational improvement programs as part of defect resolution cycles and broader continuous improvement initiatives * Develop and maintain KPIs and SLA metrics that illustrate the health and performance of both teams; provide regular reporting and insights to the AD of Global IOC and senior leadership * Develop data-driven operational reports and briefings, translating complex technical and operational information into clear, business-focused messaging * Coordinate with senior leadership on capacity planning, infrastructure readiness, and significant operational decisions affecting the APAC region * Build and sustain effective working relationships with cross-functional teams including Infrastructure, Network, Applications, Facilities, and Security At IREN, we offer a highly competitive compensation package that includes base salary, annual performance incentives, and opportunities to build long-term wealth through equity programs.
