Description
What’s the role?  This is a senior specialist role that shapes how Westpac navigates complex industrial relations matters across its people, leaders and employee representatives. Sitting within the Industrial Relations Strategy & Advice team in Westpac’s broader People function, this is not purely advisory or transactional role. It is about judgement, influence and practical impact at scale. You’ll contribute to Westpac’s industrial relations strategy and provide trusted advice on industrial instruments, disputes, major workplace change and IR risks arising from enterprise-wide or large divisional initiatives. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, People partners and internal specialists to help identify issues early, manage risk constructively and help deliver practical, legally sound outcomes. This role suits someone who enjoys operating in complexity, values early and constructive engagement, and wants to help shape sustainable outcomes rather than simply manage issues after they’ve landed. What you will be doing: You’ll be trusted to operate with autonomy, credibility and influence. Key responsibilities include: * Providing clear, practical and commercially grounded advice on industrial instruments, disputes, major workplace change and IR risks arising from enterprise-wide or large divisional initiatives. * Partnering with senior leaders, People partners and internal specialists to support complex change and manage industrial relations risks early and effectively. * Contributing to initiatives that support Westpac’s industrial relations strategy and associated projects, including enterprise bargaining. * Building strong, credible relationships across the business and with employee organisation representatives so issues are identified early and managed constructively. * Supporting practical, outcomes-focused approaches to industrial matters that are legally sound, commercially pragmatic and sustainable. What you’ll bring We’re looking for someone with the confidence, credibility and judgement that comes from depth of experience. You’ll bring: * Experience in Industrial Relations from within a large, complex organisation. * Strong technical expertise in Australian industrial relations frameworks, instruments, dispute resolution and major workplace change. * A proven ability to interpret, develop and advise on industrial instruments, IR risks and practical solutions for senior stakeholders. * Experience working constructively with employee organisations to proactively manage matters and support sustainable outcomes. * Confidence contributing to enterprise bargaining, strategic IR initiatives and complex change programs at scale. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly, assimilate information, work collaboratively and exercise sound judgement in complex situations. Why join us? We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that: * Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates! * Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.  * Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.  * Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
