The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Manager of IT Operations to join our innovative technology team as we experience a period of growth and transformation. In this critical role you will lead the strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement of IT operations across the organisation, as well as lead the IT Operations team, overseeing technology services, infrastructure and vendor partnerships.

We are looking for a customer-centric and empathetic leader with experience operating within highly regulated industries, ideally superannuation or financial services. You will bring the following key skills:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in IT operations leadership, including managing external vendors and IT service providers within complex, regulated environments with proven ability to develop and execute IT operational strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technology infrastructure operations, including cloud environments (Azure), networks, Microsoft 365, and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL, and experience with ITSM tools and processes.
  • Strong understanding of information security standards and regulatory frameworks (NIST, CPS 234), and experience collaborating with security and risk functions.
  • Highly disciplined and structured individual with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise own work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and team-building skills with a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Superior stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, including experience engaging with senior executives and boards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Nice to have but not essential are post qualifications in IT or Business; industry certifications such as ITIL Expert, Microsoft 365, Azure; certification or experience in LEAN, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic direction and operational management of the organisation’s IT operations function, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulations and standards.
  • Provide leadership in the design, implementation, and optimisation of scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure to support current and future technology needs, including cloud services, networks, servers, and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Oversee and manage complex vendor relationships and service contracts, ensuring external service providers deliver value, meet agreed SLAs, and align with the organisation’s strategic priorities.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of ITSM frameworks, processes, and tools (e.g., ITIL).
  • Collaborate with Information Security and Risk teams to ensure robust cybersecurity practices, compliance with regulatory frameworks (NIST, CPS 234), and the implementation of risk mitigation strategies to protect data and IT assets.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity strategies and plans to ensure resilience and minimise disruption in the event of system outages or disasters.
  • Develop and maintain IT standards and guidelines in line with industry better practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strong leadership to the IT operations team (internal and external), fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for internal stakeholders, ensuring the effective delivery of technology services that support business needs and enhance member/customer experiences.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT operations and infrastructure.
