The Senior Manager, maintenance directs all activities required to successfully maintain facilities operations and maintenance activity throughout UPMC and its entities, including contract negotiations, administration, project estimates, scheduling, and material acquisition. As the owner’s representative at various construction sites, directs and coordinates the activities of trade groups and sub-contractors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or completion of an accredited Apprentice Program or Education Agreement required.
  • Trade school, Vocational-Technical or Union approved apprenticeship preferred.
  • 7 years of facilities/maintenance/engineering experience is required including 3 years’ leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of hospital construction and healthcare equipment preferred.
  • Ability to develop and monitor budgets for construction projects required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project with the ability to operate computerized building management systems and CMMS systems.
  • Military experience considered for requirement components as applicable
Responsibilities
  • Reinforce departmental goals and manage all projects to meet regulatory and compliance standards, including required security permits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of internal and external regulations affecting operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all department policies, safety protocols, ICRA procedures, training programs, and performance standards.
  • Coordinate and direct manpower effectively, assigning daily tasks to meet deadlines and optimize efficiency.
  • Develop and implement innovative scheduling strategies in collaboration with other departments to maximize resource use.
  • Serve as Project Safety Director, upholding ICRA containment procedures and ensuring consistent safety practices on-site.
  • Conduct safety inspections of all project, shop, and storage areas, enforcing OSHA standards and implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Represent UPMC in all project-related meetings, including pre-construction and technical site reviews.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Infection Control, Environmental Health & Safety, Security, Architects, and other support teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Track and document all project activities in the TMS Work Order System, ensuring accurate labor coding for reimbursement.
