We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of Tax and Accounting to join our team and contribute to our ongoing commitment to excellence.
As a leader in our firm, you will be a key partner in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our client services. You’ll be responsible for client deliverables, managing firm workflows, and influencing change by developing systems and processes that drive efficiency. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in tax with strong leadership and mentorship skills. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver who is comfortable with adapting to new technologies and committed to building lasting client relationships.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead and Mentor: Train and mentor team members in the preparation of T1 personal and T2 corporate tax returns. You will also oversee the firm’s learning and development initiatives.
  • Quality Control: Review the work of team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and excellence.
  • Client Service: Ensure client needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Tax Preparation: Act as a resource for the team on challenging tax matters and prepare complex personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Process Improvement: Oversee the firm’s workflow while reviewing and improving internal firm processes to drive efficiency.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in public practice, with a strong background in preparing Compilation Engagement financial statements, T1 personal tax returns, and T2 corporate tax returns.
  • Experience with T3 trust returns is a plus.
  • Education & Credentials:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course (or near completion) is a bonus.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong people management and organizational skills.
  • A desire to adapt to new technologies and leverage them to create efficiencies in the workplace.
  • Experience working with Caseware/Caseview and tax preparation software.
