Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Manager Operational Improvement is responsible for leading and managing the development, delivery and input into key emergency management projects and initiatives progressing across the emergency management sector. This supports the state to understand council’s emergency management role, which in turn supports councils to undertake their role. The role is pivotal to enable the Department to deliver its key responsibility within the State Emergency Management Plan as a lead response support agency for local government.
The Senior Manager manages project staff and works in consultation with key stakeholders to provide strategic advice and shape the future direction for councils in emergency management.

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience and knowledge in emergency management and the associated legislation and policy particularly as it relates to local government.
  • Translates strategies into programs or projects that enables achievement of outcomes. Defines governance (e.g. success measures, roles and responsibilities, progress monitoring) required to manage risks and maximise probability of success.
  • Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues. Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process. Delivers tangible business outcomes as a result of critically evaluating problems from multiple perspectives and delivering effective solutions.
  • Identifies issues in common for one or more clients or stakeholders and uses them to build mutually beneficial partnerships. Identifies and responds to stakeholder’s underlying needs. Uses understanding of the stakeholder’s organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved.
