Reporting to the Controller, the Sr. Manager, Payroll & Equity Administration oversees payroll processes and equity compensation administration within the organization. The role involves ensuring accurate processing of equity exercises and their integration into the payroll system, compliance with SOX 404, and effective communication with employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ payroll and equity experience in a business setting
  • Experience within the life science industry preferred
  • Previous experience with accounting in a publicly traded company required
  • Significant Sarbanes Oxley compliance experience, 404b experience preferred
  • Stock option administration and Morgan Stanley/ShareWorks experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to present numeric data effectively
  • Exceptional listening, observational and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional time-management abilities and strong follow-through skills required
  • Experience managing confidential information
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment handling a wide range of tasks with little supervision or oversite required
  • Professional, team-oriented, collaborative, and “can-do” attitude
  • Intermediate-to-advanced computer and MS Office skills (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint); Experience with conference equipment/platforms
    The starting base pay range for this position is $145,000.00 - $169,970.00. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the main point of contact for inquiries related to payroll and equity compensation
  • Process semi-monthly payroll with ADP
  • Review new hires and terminations and ensure the information is updated in ADP and equity management platforms. Ensure state registration is obtained if necessary
  • Gain a thorough understanding of equity compensation plans, including stock options, Restricted Share Units, ESPP and Directors’ Deferred Share Units
  • Ensure the information in the equity management platform is in line with the equity compensation plans and agreements with participants
  • Gain a thorough understanding and facilitate the processes and internal controls around payroll
  • Collaborate with Accounting/Finance, People Ops, and Legal on equity-related matters as needed
  • Process releases of Restricted Share Units based on the vesting schedules and settlement guidelines
  • Perform the tax withholding calculation for Restricted Share Units
  • Maintain and update the schedules for Directors’ Deferred Share Units
  • Work with third party vendors (such as ADP and equity management platform) to process payroll and equity transactions
  • Review wages and tax statements such as W-2’s
  • Support annual Proxy filings by compiling relevant data
  • Book monthly and quarterly journal entries for payroll and equity transactions
  • As necessary, support the Finance team by preparing equity related disclosures for SEC filings
