JOB DESCRIPTION

AECOM is seeking a Senior Manager, Permitting - Airport Project to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of Mississauga. We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:

  • University Degree + 8 years of relevant experience in an on-site permitting management and / or leadership role.

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • A professional designation is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years in an on-site permitting management and/or leadership role.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in large airport projects or equivalent infrastructure programs exceeding CAD $500M.
  • Proven expertise in permitting, including internal airport operational permits as well as external permits, approvals, and consents.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and security regulations and their influence on the permit-to-work process.
  • Extensive experience leading teams to fulfill permitting requirements for complex projects and programs.
  • Robust technical proficiency across all project phases, including design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance—preferably within large-scale programs or projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and provide strategic-level reporting to support effective decision-making.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and workshops with large groups.
Responsibilities
  • Fulfill the owner’s permitting obligations.
  • Lead the Permitting team to ensure a robust and efficient permit-to-work process across the program.
  • Develop and implement updated governance frameworks and processes to support effective permitting for a program of this scale and complexity.
  • Coordinate permitting activities by collaborating with corporate safety and security, operations, commercial, and maintenance departments.
  • Review and validate contractors’ permitting plans while implementing a structured assurance regime for the program.
  • Work closely with Program Leads and other PMO Services functional leads to integrate permitting across all aspects of the program.
  • Provide management and executive-level reporting, offering insights, trends analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Offer expert guidance on permitting policies and regulations that impact program execution and delivery.
