This is truly a unique opportunity to join a dynamic regional office of a globally established investment firm. We are seeking a Senior Manager to support the private equity team on all aspects of the private equity investment process and portfolio monitoring. The position is in our Hong Kong office (opened in 2019), as part of the Asia private equity team covering primary commitments to private equity funds as well as direct/co-investments across Asia. The selected candidate will gain exposure to high deal velocity/variety and a significant level of responsibility, providing an excellent learning opportunity. The Senior Manager will have an opportunity to apply their investment knowledge across a wide array of sectors and geographies, with a focus on India but also broader Asia regional coverage. Of note, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with PSP’s other offices in Montreal and London, and potential to work with other asset classes. Compensation package will be competitive. ABOUT YOUR ROLE Responsibilities will cover the broader private equity activity in Asia for PSP: Sourcing of direct/co-investments – build deal pipeline by nurturing relationships with PE firms/institutional investors/businesses and maintaining ongoing market awareness, regionally as well as in India Leading preliminary analysis of potential investment opportunities – company and market research, financial and valuation analysis, meetings with prospective partners and advisors, industry expert interviews, etc. Coordinating due diligence Lead and/or support the various due diligence workstreams on live transactions, helping to assess key investment merits and risks (including commercial, financial, tax, legal, structuring, ESG and other workstreams) Review of financial models, including business plan, valuation and LBO analysis Lead preparation and present investment recommendation memorandums and other internal/external materials Actively participate in the decision process of investment opportunities Post-investment monitoring – lead post-investment monitoring activities and interact with portfolio companies’ management teams, potentially with a Board of Directors seat / observer role Underwriting/monitoring primary fund investments, and building/maintaining relationships with key existing and prospective GPs WHAT YOU’LL NEED Excellent academic credentials: a business, economics or scientific degree is preferred, but other degrees will also be considered Eight (8) to ten (10) years’ experience across private equity, investment banking (leverage finance/M&A) or management consulting, preferably majority of which was spent within India private equity buyout space In certain cases, we will consider less/more experienced profiles for extremely strong candidates / unique backgrounds Hold an SFC Type 1 Licensed Representative Licence, or—if not currently licensed—pass the Paper 1 exam and fulfil all other licensing requirements within 12 weeks. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with full proficiency in financial modelling (both operating and LBO) Solid understanding of corporate finance and key accounting principles Outstanding commercial judgment and critical thinking skills, with a creative approach to problem solving Proactive attitude and deep sense of ownership and initiative Excellent communication skills, with ability to articulate and present facts and ideas effectively both verbally and in writing Good cultural fit: mature personality motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, contribute to the team and with “low ego” attitude Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn) (regular interactions in English with investment partners based outside of Quebec Example: peers, bankers, brokerage firms, etc. and PSP employees in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa) We offer a tailored employee experience and competitive total rewards and benefits package* designed to attract and retain global diverse talent, reward performance, and reinforce business strategies and priorities.
