The opportunity:
As the Senior Manager Risk and Control Assurance in the Enterprise Risk & Compliance team. You will be responsible for delivering high quality risk advice and providing operational risk subject matter expertise to support the execution of line 2 risk services into the business through the Enterprise Risk & Compliance business partnering model.
This role also has responsibility for subject matter expertise on controls and assurance matters, ensuring that AIA policies reflect better industry practice and align with the expectations of AIA Group, and that they are implemented effectively and adhered to across the Enterprise.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Work collaboratively with the respective Enterprise Risk and Compliance business partners in the delivery of high-quality risk advice and specialist support into the business.
  • Support the development, management, refinement, implementation and embedding of AIA Australia’s Controls and Testing framework.
  • Ensure that Controls and Testing practices and procedures are implemented according to the framework, including addressing Operational Risk through documented controls.
  • Execution of control assurance activities for relevant business units, communication of results and monitoring of execution of remedial actions.
  • Conduct ad-hoc audits to evaluate the effectiveness of controls, identify gaps and propose corrective actions to strengthen risk management practices.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, identify gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the control environment.
  • Escalate risk, control weaknesses, incidents and issues that remain unmitigated and/or outside tolerance to relevant stakeholders and identify areas for targeted assurance activity
  • Provide objective, informed and influential second opinion on key business issues.

    Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • Extensive practical experience with risk management frameworks and operational risk disciplines within the Australian financial services industry

  • Extensive stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills with the ability to influence business leaders
  • Trusted advisor and proactively thinks through issues and the impacts
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment as well as key legislation impacting on business activities in financial services sector
  • Deep understanding of operational processes, business complexities and interdependencies
