SENIOR MANAGER, SALES & PRE - CONSTRUCTION

Supervisor: Director of Sales
Classification: Full-time, exempt
The Senior Manager, Sales & Pre - Construction (SRM) is a key part of the commercial team, leading project development and key account management efforts for the new construction segment. This client - facing role is responsible for nurturing relationships, developing account plans, delivering proposals (estimates), managing the contracting process, and ensuring a smooth transition into pre - construction. The SRM is a subject matter expert who works closely with the Analyst and Sales Engineering teams, and interacts frequently with other Cal Solar departments including pre-construction, leadership, estimating, engineering, contract management, construction and project management. You must currently reside in Southern or Northern CA, and expect at least 50% work travel within the state.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
  • Currently reside in Northern or Southern CA, and be willing to travel in - state 50% or more.
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in the commercial solar, energy efficiency, green building, or commercial real estate development industries.
  • 8 - 10 years of work experience with a strong track record of growth and advancement in prior roles.
  • Sound working knowledge of California’s Title 24 commercial building code.
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial scale grid - tied solar PV Systems and other renewable energy technologies.
  • Experience selling renewable energy solutions or related technologies into the real estate industry.
  • Experience with solar financing concepts including power purchase agreements and tenant billing systems.
  • Experience using Salesforce for sales pipeline management.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to support multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills/mindset.
  • Excellent time management skills - ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and delegate when appropriate.
  • Confident and capable of holding others accountable.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject - matter expert to clients and stakeholders for solar and battery storage projects for the new construction market segment.
  • Grow and manage key account relationships in the new construction segment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with an ecosystem of stakeholders including architects, general contractors, and related trades.
  • Manage a pipeline of design - build sales opportunities, track progress and achieve/exceed sales targets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage pre - construction project development, and ensure successful project hand - off.
  • Qualify opportunities using solution selling techniques, and manage opportunities in the company’s CRM system.
  • Negotiate commercial terms including pricing and project scope with sophisticated counterparties.
  • Attend industry events to source new leads, develop a professional network, and keep a pulse on industry trends.
  • Guide clients through the entire sales process, from initial introduction through final documentation.
