We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Payments team in the Servicing Platform within SoFi’s Lending Platform organization. This domain is one of the most correctness‑critical surfaces in the company, powering loan payments including different payment types. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker, a design‑first engineering leader, and a stabilizing force who can bring architectural clarity, predictable execution, and strong technical judgment to a complex, high‑visibility domain. You will own the technical direction for Payments, lead a team of engineers building the next‑generation Payments architecture, and partner closely with Lifecycle, Data, Risk, Capital Markets, and SIPS to ensure correctness, controls, and reconciliation are built into every flow. This is a high‑impact role with visibility across the company. You will shape the future of how SoFi processes payments at scale. What You’ll Do: Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Define and communicate team objectives, set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching. Identify skill gaps within the team and coordinate training programs to enhance technical capabilities. Foster a culture of innovation, professional growth, and continuous improvement. Oversee the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables, and create project plans, schedules, and budgets. Manage project priorities, and resolve conflicts to ensure efficient project execution. Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes. Provide technical leadership and guidance to software development teams, promoting best practices, architectural standards, and code quality. Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the software development process. Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing. Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and execute strategies that drive operational excellence and improve software development practices. What You’ll Need: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Strong technical background and expertise in software development, including proficiency in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and technologies. Proven experience as a Software Development Manager or Technical leadership role, preferably in a fast-paced software development environment. Demonstrated experience in managing and leading software development teams, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software projects. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve high performance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
