JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning, the Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Business Management will play a key role in the development and implementation of a diverse range of analytical research, strategic and/or operational support and acts as the representative of the executive on a broad range of matters as assigned.

The Senior Manager will report directly to the VP, FP National Office, working closely with this role as a strategic delegate to oversee and build the Financial Planning’s 5 Year Strategy, support business management activities and strengthen operational resilience. Primary accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic roadmap initiatives and programs across Financial Planning.
  • Manage and report on progress against strategic objectives (BRS, Strategic Planning), and develop business management tools and processes to enhance ownership of outcomes within the business.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of the FP business, including reviewing and assessing monthly financials for insights, and initiating and overseeing analytics of the business, resource planning, and oversight of BAU processes and programs.
  • Develop long-term plans to grow revenues in the business, including enhancing the client and field experience, adding new solutions, product innovation, and operational improvements.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of strategic outcomes, owning materials and collateral to support regular executive update meetings and progress, coordinating with stakeholders on upcoming deliverables, and proactively reporting status to Senior Management.
  • Act as the primary strategic delegate to the VP, FP National Office – leading complex conversations and representing the FP business on senior working committees.
  • Identify issues requiring research or analysis, determine solutions directly or in consultation with relevant functional or business heads, other internal or external groups as necessary, and provide meaningful information in response to issues or questions raised.
  • Lead the change management capability, including framework, standards and guidelines for the successful implementation of changes across Financial Planning. Focus includes the development of critical artifacts to support field communications, updating policies/ procedures, tools and elevating the function to respond to field queries.
  • Create/ enhance documentation for existing processes and programs, and identify risks/ gaps as well as opportunities for simplification and automation.
  • Undertake and complete a variety of special projects and initiatives, often of a highly sensitive nature, usually with minimal guidance or direction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate or graduate business degree.
  • MBA would be an asset
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with senior management at all levels
  • Strong communications and project management experience
  • Strategic, visual and critical long-term thinking –"Thought Leadership”;
  • Previous experience developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills, with the ability to make things happen through use of positive influence
  • Expertise in working effectively in teams – requires a track record of working cross-organizationally and with multiple stakeholders
  • Able to deal with significant ambiguity and constantly changing circumstances
  • Genuine curiosity for the Wealth business – the motivation to learn the different areas of Wealth and how they work together
  • Financial acumen and research / analysis skills – able to absorb a steady stream of information (financial and non-financial) and summarize key issues or concerns
