Description
The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realise the vision and mission of making the West Kowloon Cultural District a prime local and international destination for arts, culture and entertainment. You will be responsible for: planning and overseeing the execution of technical requirements for new and existing performing arts venues, overseeing new building handover, testing and commissioning of theatre equipment and facilities; supporting the Head of Technical and Productions, establishing technical and production support standards for performances and programs at WKCD Performing Arts facilities, overseeing the implementation of such standards, initiating training sessions for team members as needed; developing the annual operation budget and capital expenditure spending of performing arts venue. Supervising budget development of internal artistic programs; driving the development and overseeing the implementation of standardized procedures, protocols, and best practices for operating and maintenance of technical and theatre system/equipment; supervising the specification, procurement, and maintenance of technical equipment required for venues and artistic productions, while overseeing booking, tracking, and maintenance systems. developing and overseeing the management of detailed back-of-house operational plans, including manpower allocation, hiring processes, training programs, policies, health & safety protocols, and risk mitigation strategies; establishing and maintaining a technical and production workflow by fostering seamless collaboration between internal Performing Arts teams and external hirers; understanding and fulfilling the technical needs of in-house producers, artistic partners, and hirers, ensuring their creative visions are realized effectively; planning and overseeing the execution of technical and operational support for temporary and outdoor performances, including pre-production coordination; and performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by the Authority. You should: possess a recognised university degree relevant to performing arts, technical theatre / arts, stage management or equivalent relevant working experience; have at least 15 years of relevant in technical and production management within performing arts venues, cultural districts, or similar institutions, including oversight of new venue development, building handovers, equipment testing, commissioning, and maintenance, of which 8 years should be in a senior position; have solid background and experience in developing and overseeing back-of-house operational plans, including manpower allocation, hiring, training, policies, health and safety protocols, and risk mitigation; demonstrate leadership in establishing and implementing technical standards, procedures, and best practices for theatre operations and equipment maintenance; have proven track record in budget development and management, including annual operational budgets, capital expenditures, and supervision of artistic program budget; have extensive experience in supervising procurement, specification, and maintenance of technical equipment, along with managing booking, tracking, and inventory systems; have expert knowledge of theatre systems and equipment, with a focus on planning, execution, operation, maintenance, and compliance with industry standards, regulations, and organizational policy; preferably have good understanding of IT network design related to Performing Arts technical operation; have excellent interpersonal skills, be capable of working well in a collegial environment and possess superior people skills to facilitate working with the Performing Arts team and other artists of a variety of experience levels; and be able to communicate fluently ideally both in written and spoken English and Chinese.
