JOB SUMMARY

There will be a working bias predominantly towards major claims in Energy, Engineering, Construction and Property / Power lines of business as a specialist focus within an overall framework of complex claims management. You will work with colleagues to ensure that Specialty & Treaty claims handling is a consistent process.
As a claims technical expert, you will contribute towards SCOR taking an enhanced claims agreement party positions on complex policies and risk transfer programmes. This will include compliance with claims guidelines, advising on case strategy and expert management, team performance and objective setting. The role will also include the oversight of all claims activity within the business segment, working with the Practice Leaders in the handling of claims from other segments that may be required to support the business. From time to time this will include assistance with and adjustment of claims outside the immediate scope of the role.
You will be supported on this journey by a high quality mentoring and training programme that will be tailored for you as part of an annual review process.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in a senior International risks market claims handling role (or equivalent) demonstrating expertise in property and/or construction/engineering and/or energy and/or casualty & related lines claims.
  • The candidate must be able to demonstrate consistent continuing successes with recognition in the claims market within an underwriting, service provider or broking organisation.
  • Specialist technical capability together with applied practical and commercial business skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships with clients, brokers, underwriting and market communities.
  • Willingness to adapt to & learn new Lines of Business as where SCOR key client management initiatives dictate
  • High degree of analysis, independence and co-ordination/team working skills in a matrix environment of an international/regional insurance/reinsurance company or large international loss adjuster firm
  • High level of claims reporting & analytical skills to produce quality claims management reports(LLN/CEM/Flash Notices) and produce claims analysis and claims management strategies
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and able to contribute and work effectively in a matrix environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English a necessary pre-requisite & and working knowledge of Mandarin (preferable)
  • Expertise and knowledge of claims handling in multi-national risks market.
  • The ability to develop an understanding and detailed knowledge of specialist product line.
Responsibilities
  • Delivering expert claims adjusting to SCOR Specialty in Energy, Construction, Engineering Power and Property and/or Casualty Lines of Business as needed; adhering to SCOR Best Practices and Claims Handling procedures & protocols
  • Managing a portfolio of claims: assess and evaluate policy liability and to calculate reserve exposures, assess settlement values of claims, provide timely and accurate reporting.
  • Report on operational performance and establish a culture of continuous improvement to support the overall Single Risk claims strategy of providing a “Centre of Excellence” in claims
  • Take an active role in working with SCOR underwriters to provide claims feedback and support to assist on developing the book of business
  • Working with and independently of underwriting develop and maintain client relationships and be responsible for key accounts
  • Represent SCOR and the claims department internally and externally including review meetings with brokers and/or policy holders
  • Managing a portfolio of claims: assess and evaluate policy liability and to calculate reserve exposures and negotiating settlement of claims to successful conclusion
  • As needed support in managing Specialty claims response to defined major risk events
  • Develop appropriate relationships and understandings with the CA and TA personnel globally to co-ordinate claims response
  • Provide mentoring, training and coaching where appropriate
  • Conduct peer reviews and audits where required
  • Take an increasingly active role on market initiatives for the betterment of SCOR
  • Work within SCOR ethical and service standards as well as fulfilling compliance and regulatory requirements
  • As may be required from time to time liaise, co-ordinate and support within matrix reporting arrangements in relation of claims and claims activity set up procedures for managing the portfolio of claims, on referrals assess and evaluate policy liability and establish case reserves, assess settlement values of claims, consolidate data to report working with the Regional Claims and Global Claims team.
  • A focus on helping underwriters develop their portfolio of risks and manage these effectively
  • Working with and independently of underwriting to develop and maintain client relationships and be responsible for key accounts & clients
  • Represent SCOR and the claims department internally and externally including review meetings with brokers and/or policy holders on an as needed basis
  • Where required deputise for senior colleagues
  • Take an active role in working with SCOR underwriters to provide claims feedback to assist on developing the construction, energy or property bookd of business
  • Potential for involvement in any relevant market events / initiatives on behalf of SCOR
  • Work within SCOR ethical and service standards as well as fulfilling compliance and regulatory requirements
