SENIOR MANAGER, TECHNICAL PRODUCT MANAGER

The Senior Technical Project Manager leads a high-impact team responsible for the strategic vision, roadmap, and execution of one or more technical products with cross-divisional and enterprise-wide implications. This team is responsible for shaping and delivering the long-term technology strategy for Enterprise Investment Systems (EIS) and Fund Services & Oversight (FSO).
In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of technical products—from initial strategy and implementation through ongoing stewardship—ensuring they evolve in step with Vanguard’s future-state architecture and business needs. This role demands a deep understanding of both the product(s) and the business areas they support, with a focus on driving alignment across partners and delivering scalable, forward-looking solutions through continuous innovation and strategic transformation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years related business experience. Three years of leading large cross-functional teams on major organizational projects preferred. Previous people-leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of digital product management concepts and practices.
  • Strategic problem solver with a creative, solution-oriented approach.
  • Proven people leadership with experience building and guiding high-performing teams.
  • Strong business acumen with relevant experience in investment operations, including middle office functions (e.g., IBOR, reconciliation, corporate actions), IMG services (e.g., investor cash, portfolio insight), or fund services and oversight (e.g., financial reporting, fund accounting, treasury, and tax).
Responsibilities
  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Oversees technical product management activities for multiple technical products, or one strategic technical product. Drives the design and continuous improvement of the technical solution.
  • Influences and collaborates with cross-functional teams to create standard processes that drive significant change to the client experience. Ensures business outcomes are linked to business case drivers.
  • Coaches technical product teams towards standard processes and takeaways. Oversees’ product teams’ support of the messaging, communication, and customer outreach as needed.
  • Facilitates strong business support through working with team members to promote a consistent approach to decisions/impacts and client propositions. Drives connection across all appropriate internal and external partners.
  • Owns the planning, development and implementation of new technical products. Defines and analyzes markets, developing detailed product features and requirements, and developing implementation plans.
  • Influences and employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to continually improve the user experience.
  • Participates in and influences ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.
  • Drives the team’s engineering practices in development, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
