Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager Technology – Middleware to ensure the stability, reliability, and high availability of middleware platforms across a large-scale, mission-critical environment. In this role, you will provide L3 support and manage critical technical escalations, support BAU operations and project initiatives within a 24x7 on-call model, and ensure systems are maintained in line with audit, security, disaster recovery, and compliance standards. You will collaborate closely with application, database, security operations, network, and infrastructure teams to support and optimize middleware services, while also managing Opex and Capex for the middleware platforms. Responsibilities Lead and manage middleware platforms (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss) across large-scale, mission-critical environments. Drive end-to-end implementation, upgrades, migrations, and standardization initiatives, including on-premise to cloud transitions. Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and system resilience for all middleware services. Deliver L2/L3 production support, ensuring quick resolution, root cause analysis, and prevention of recurring issues. Manage application deployments (EAR/WAR) and ensure smooth release cycles with minimal downtime. Ensure SLA/KPI adherence through proactive monitoring, performance optimization, and incident management. Act as the primary escalation point for critical incidents (P1/P2) and ensure effective stakeholder communication. Drive performance engineering, including JVM tuning, capacity planning, and system scalability. Implement and enforce middleware security practices, vulnerability remediation, and compliance standards. Lead automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency using scripting and configuration tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (application, database, infrastructure) for seamless service delivery. Maintain documentation, SOPs, and runbooks, ensuring compliance with ITIL processes. Support audit and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to enterprise governance standards. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for process optimization and operational excellence. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members. Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and automation. Required Qualifications 10–15+ years of experience in middleware administration in large environments. Demonstrated expertise in administration of WebLogic, WebSphere, and JBoss across complex enterprise environments. Strong hands-on experience in end-to-end middleware implementation, configuration, and environment setup across Dev, Test, and Production. Proven capability in application deployments (EAR/WAR), release management, and minimizing downtime during production rollouts. Deep understanding of middleware troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and proactive issue resolution. Extensive experience in tuning JVM, thread dump and heap dump analysis, and performance optimization. Strong hands-on experience with UNIX platforms (AIX, RHEL, HP-UX), including system administration, log analysis, and performance tuning. Proficiency in shell scripting, with the ability to automate routine operational tasks. Experience working in large-scale, mission-critical environments with 24x7 production support models. Solid exposure to middleware lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, and version migrations. Experience with enterprise monitoring tools, ensuring system health, availability, and SLA adherence. Strong knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) and operational best practices. Hands-on exposure to cloud platforms (preferably Azure), including middleware deployment and integration patterns. Experience in automation using scripting/tools (Shell, Python, Ansible) to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Good understanding of middleware security practices, including SSL configuration, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements. Experience supporting audit and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to enterprise security standards. Strong collaboration skills with application, database, network, and infrastructure teams for integrated solution delivery. Proven ability to handle critical incidents, perform RCA, and ensure timely resolution within SLA/KPI targets. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills in high-pressure environments.
