Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Investment Operations and Performance (IO&P) team ensures the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of Australian Retirement Trust’s (ART’s) investment processes. The Valuations team is responsible for overseeing the valuation of investment portfolios, assessment and process management, and supporting strategic investment decisions.
As a Senior Manager – Valuations you will be a key leader in the IO&P team, responsible for ensuring valuation practices across all investment asset classes meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. This includes conducting internal audits and risk assessments and delivering actionable recommendations to enhance valuation processes. You will also lead the development and maintenance of robust valuation models and methodologies, ensuring alignment with regulatory and governance frameworks.
Key aspects of the role include:

Valuation Oversight & Frameworks

  • Develop and enhance valuation frameworks for consistency and reliability.
  • Oversee valuations across all asset classes, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulations.
  • Maintain a detailed valuation policy and procedures manual.
  • Review and challenge external valuations to ensure accuracy.

Economic & Market Analysis

  • Monitor global economic and geopolitical developments.
  • Assess impacts of interest rates, inflation, and market trends on asset valuations.
  • Provide strategic insights to guide valuation decisions.

Reporting

  • Report valuation activities to oversight and audit committees.
  • Ensure accurate integration of valuations into financial statements.
  • Support year-end audits with documentation and explanations.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of valuation and compliance professionals.
  • Present valuation findings to senior leadership and committees.
  • Address stakeholder queries and collaborate across departments.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives to improve investment processes.
