Description

Senior Manager – Wealth Operations Reconciliation

The position will provide dedicated leadership, accountability, governance, and risk oversight for one of the most critical control functions within Wealth Management Operations, while supporting the department's broader objectives of operational excellence, risk reduction, scalability, and sustainable growth.

Reconciliation is one of the most critical control functions within Wealth Operations, serving as the primary mechanism for validating the accuracy and completeness of client assets, cash balances, trading activity, settlement records, and custodian positions. Any breakdown in this process can lead to financial losses, client impact, regulatory breaches, audit findings, reputational damage, and management escalation.

The importance of reconciliation as a key operational control is also reflected in other operational functions where reconciliation, risk management, reporting, and control oversight are recognized as dedicated support activities. The Wealth business continues to expand in terms of:

  • Assets Under Management (AUM)
  • Number of clients and transactions
  • Product complexity
  • Multi-market and multi-custodian operating model
  • Regulatory and governance expectations
  • Dependence on technology platforms and external service providers

As transaction volumes and operational complexity increase, reconciliation activities can no longer be managed effectively as a secondary responsibility within existing teams. The function requires dedicated management oversight to ensure that all cash and stock positions are accurately reconciled, investigated, escalated, and resolved within defined timelines.Currently, reconciliations involve multiple data sources, booking platforms, custodians, settlement systems, and internal ledgers. This increases the likelihood of:

  • Unresolved cash breaks
  • Stock position discrepancies
  • Incorrect asset holdings
  • Delayed exception resolution
  • Control weaknesses
  • Increased operational risk exposure:
  • Accurate reconciliation of all client cash balances
  • Verification of stock and security positions
  • Timely identification of discrepancies
  • Immediate escalation of material exceptions
  • Full transparency of unresolved breaks
  • Own the reconciliation governance framework
  • Monitor control effectiveness
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence
