POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Managing Editor manages and oversees the editorial strategy, production, and distribution of key Society news publications, including The Hematologist and ASH News Daily, and is responsible for ensuring that these publications support the Society’s business goals, engage readers, and strengthen the ASH brand. The Senior Managing Editor ensures accurate and cohesive messaging about ASH priorities and makes recommendations for optimal print and electronic distribution strategies, improvements to online user experience, promotional strategies, and development of new revenue streams. The Senior Managing Editor Communications is also responsible for the production of a monthly podcast for The Hematologist.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED

  • College degree. A minimum of seven years’ work experience on a similar publication.
  • Experience with medical/science writing and editing preferred.
  • Experience with managing both desktop publishing and XML workflows required.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in an active work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including professionalism and ability to work well with the ASH leadership.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • May require some out-of-town work travel.
