JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

TeamAAM is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer implements manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling, and machinery to improve efficiency. They establish control charting of critical features and processes; monitors results and determines machine and process capabilities and performance reliability. They also lead the implementation of new processes, selection of equipment to be purchased, and time estimates. This individual will resolve issues with design, manufacturability, or build sequences. They will ensure production-part acceptance and manufacturing readiness.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements.
  • Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, evaluating equipment capabilities and service history; evaluating vendor service and support.
  • Completes equipment cost projections by analyzing investment, return, and savings.
  • Monitors equipment installations by advising crews.
  • Meets production requirements by designing equipment modifications as needed.
  • Prepares equipment operators by conducting training; providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Programs and modifies CNC programs on lathes and milling machines; validates CNC programs on equipment.
  • Designs and develops fixtures for machining equipment.
  • Understands and provides support on CMM equipment.
  • Maintains equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database.
  • Protects organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or product engineering.
  • Knowledge of general equipment (lathes and milling machines).
  • Experience programming and modifying CNC programs.
  • Understanding of GD&T and CMM system concepts.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Mastercam.
  • Knowledge of machining fixtures (pneumatic and hydraulic).
  • Concept of statistics and capability studies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
