Description

We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Operations Department here at Overview. Along with the rest of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, the role will play a pivotal part in providing a bridge between R&D and Operations.
This role will play a key part in providing technical support in all areas so that existing products are manufactured efficiently to the highest quality and lowest cost, while being delivered to schedule, transitioning our products from prototype to production.
The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrable experience as a Production Engineer (or similar) working in a high-volume environment. You will be an enthusiastic and driven individual with a desire to grow in the role, you will have a proven ability to solve problems and drive positive change. You will be an excellent communicator, able to work with all levels of the organisation as well as lead and coach junior engineers and technicians.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES.

  • As a minimum degree qualified (or equivalent), in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
  • Demonstrable experience as a production engineer in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated with a proven ability to solve problems and drive improvement and change.
  • Able to lead and coach junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ability to interface with design engineers, suppliers, and production staff.
  • Strong communications skills and fluency in English both spoken and written.
  • Production engineering experience ideally with electro-mechanical equipment, CCTV, sensor positioning equipment, test systems or similar field.
  • Experience of operating in ISO 9001 environments and to industry specific standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support for all new and existing products.
  • Initiate and lead projects to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Review new designs and identify manufacturing methods that are cost-effective, fit for purpose and reliable.
  • Advise Design and Operations teams on manufacturing methods, suppliers, and materials.
  • Work with Production team to design manufacturing lines.
  • Specify and design jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing tools.
  • Specify test systems for electronic and electromechanical equipment
  • Liaise with suppliers to get the best solutions for manufacturing and ensure quality parts are supplied
  • Support the introduction of new products into production by coordinating throughout the business to ensure that everything comes together in a timely and effective way.
  • Initiate and support cost and waste reduction activities.
  • Work with Production and Purchasing teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Support the Engineering Change Process in the business.
  • Appropriate use of CAD design tools such as SolidWorks and other design tools to design production line equipment.
  • Create and maintain BOMs in the company database.
  • Act as a point of contact for design queries from the Production and Purchasing teams.
  • Appropriate use of tools such as PFMEA, DFMA, 8D, 6 Sigma, etc.
  • Generation of clear work instructions.
  • Support the introduction of and documentation of processes and procedures that are proportionate to the needs of the business.
  • Provide first-line technical support to Production team for issues with mechanical, electronic and software-based systems.
  • Manage project work for self and supervise junior team members, including:
  • Deputise for the Head of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Train and support other members of the team.
  • Supporting the execution of technical work packages by team members and ensuring successful delivery.
