JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the VP - Manufacturing, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible and accountable for supporting the improvement of product flow and throughput, quality, and cost. This includes designing and/or specifying the proper equipment, tooling, fixtures, and dies, and assisting in a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.

Responsibilities

  • Strive to do things right the first time in collaboration with other support functions.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve product flow and increase throughput by evaluating plant layout, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in the development of best practice process workflows and work instructions in pursuit of first-time quality results and increased throughput.
  • Develop justifications and requisitions for the needed plant equipment and facilities. Support the development of the annual Spending Plan with anticipated capital expenditures.
  • Assist in the design of tooling, fixtures, and dies for improving capabilities and/or increasing throughput.
  • Participate in maintaining the Equipment Inventory list, Manufacturing Capabilities list, and proper tooling selection charts and lists.
  • Work closely with maintenance and/or plant personnel to produce tooling, fabricate fixtures, and resolve equipment and facility issues in a timely manner. Coordinate with outside contractors performing work as required.
  • Work with maintenance personnel in support of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
  • Aid in reviewing and understanding drawings and schematics for major equipment repairs.
  • Collaborate within a team atmosphere and contribute accordingly. Work in a respectful and professional manner with fellow employees, management, and suppliers.
  • Actively participate in the improvement of processes and procedures to improve the safety, quality, throughput, and/or cost competitiveness of TFES?s products.
  • Document lessons learned to gain knowledge and insight on successes, shortcomings, and unintended outcomes in support of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in project and production meetings to ensure manufacturing engineering projects are progressing as planned to support production schedules.
