KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Level 8 degree in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience in a medical device related industry, with a demonstrated track record of developing, maintaining and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Project Management of manufacturing processes from concept to delivery.
  • Assesses project issues and develops solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude (aptitude for understanding, designing and using machines and/or tools).
  • Ability to prepare written procedures, proposals, and reports.
  • Knowledgeable in risk management methodologies such as PFMEA and in manufacturing plant test strategies.
  • Solid Works/AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project.
  • Effective communication skills with superiors, peers and subordinates.
  • Six Sigma/Lean certified preferred.
  • Experience creating/processing engineering changes in Agile preferred.
  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

At our Engineering Department in Medtronic Athlone, we focus on production of Medical Devices in our Controlled Manufacturing Environment. Senior Manufacturing Engineers are directly involved in new product introductions, product transfers and maintaining/continuously improving existing product lines by ensuring time-efficient and cost-effective processes while maintaining overall product quality and compliance.
