  • Good knowledge and understanding of Company Procedures and standards relating to engineering, health & safety and environment.
  • Good knowledge in aerospace technologies ideally in a research and development environment
  • Relevant experience in planning, developing and delivering MR&D packages of work and/or small tasks or projects to agreed time, quality and costs
  • Relevant experience in developing MR&D work package scope from scope and budget definition to final technical project delivery to time, cost and quality
  • Relevant experience in working with a team of engineers and/or leading technicians to complete technical scope with work package schedule adherence
  • Relevant background in technology integration MR&D projects
  • Good interpersonal, influencing skills and a team working “ethos”
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills are essential for this role
  • Good organisational and planning skills

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

  • To execute MR&D work packages/tasks from task definition to final technical delivery by working with a team of engineers to complete work packages/tasks and/or small projects to high quality, ensuring schedule adherence and within allocated budget.
  • To liaise with partners, technology providers and customers and collaborating on MR&D programmes, providing detailed reports and presentations on activities undertaken.
  • To deliver MR&D work packages/ tasks related to innovative technologies integrating them into structural solutions for future aero structures component and assembly products.
    Senior MR&D Engineer – IT / Operational Technology Focus

Responsibilities:

  • Leading work packages/tasks from scope and budget definition to final work package/task delivery in line with the agreed schedule, ensuring on time deliverables are achieved within the allocated budget and to high quality
  • Working with a team of engineers and/or leading a team of technicians to complete projects to high quality, ensuring schedule adherence.
  • Liaising with partners, technology providers and customers in the detailed development and collaboration of MR&D programmes, providing detail reports and presentations on activities undertaken and scope of work definition.
  • Supporting principal MR&D engineer in preparation for SLC/Government and project reviews
  • Helping develop MR&D project plans, participate in scope definition and budget submission
  • Supporting principal MR&D engineer in project grant submission helping ensuring in time submission of project claims and associated evidence
  • Supporting principal MR&D engineer in various project definition and execution stages: proposals/work scope preparation, MR&D project schedule definition and adherence, government grant application, claim process preparation and adherence
  • Providing project summary reports, presentations on project activities undertaken.
  • Acting as coach/mentor to junior MR&D Engineering staff
  • Developing bespoke assembly equipment and techniques to provide cutting edge solutions to future wing aero structures products.
  • Liaising with equipment suppliers in the development of tools enabling quality assessment without the need for human interference.
  • Ensuring technical solution integration in line with product development timescales, technology and business strategy.
  • Ensuring compliance of Spirit Proprietary technologies against Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and/or Technology Readiness Level (TRL) approaches
