Company Description Our partner is an international marine works and offshore engineering company specialized in complex maritime infrastructure projects. As part of a major wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation project in Malmö, Sweden, the company is responsible for the design and installation of a 4 km seawater intake/outfall structure. The project is currently in the FEED phase and requires strong technical expertise in marine operations, offshore installation methods, regulatory compliance and multidisciplinary coordination. Job Description We are looking for a Senior Marine Operation Engineer to act as the senior technical authority for all marine operations related to the project. The role will involve coordinating all disciplines involved in offshore and nearshore operations, ensuring the overall operational consistency of the project and guaranteeing compliance with applicable Swedish, European and international regulatory, normative and engineering requirements. Key responsibilities include: Coordinate all disciplines involved in marine operations, including civil works, mechanical works, diving, ROV, geotechnics, survey and marine logistics. Ensure the proper definition of all offshore operations within FEED deliverables, including execution sequences, operational constraints and marine spread. Ensure compliance with Swedish and European regulatory requirements, including maritime authority requirements, environmental regulations and offshore safety standards. Act as the primary point of contact for relevant authorities, including Sjöfartsverket, the Port of Malmö and environmental agencies. Oversee the production of key operational documents such as the Marine Operations Manual, Operability Studies and Marine Spread Definition. Review and validate installation methods produced by Method Engineers, ensuring full operational consistency. Participate in and co-facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS reviews and operability studies. Act as the interface between engineering teams, field operations and the end client. Lead the selection of appropriate marine assets for the project, including lay vessels, barges, AHTS, dive support vessels and ROV. Manage operational risks and contribute to the development of contingency plans. Mentor and guide junior engineers and Method Engineers within the project team. Qualifications Master’s degree in maritime engineering, offshore engineering, civil engineering or equivalent. Minimum 15 years of experience in marine operations on large-scale offshore or nearshore EPCI projects. Proven experience with major industry contractors. Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, MCA, Sjöfartsverket requirements, as well as DNV and ISO standards. Experience on offshore pipeline, outfall, subsea structure and nearshore projects. Previous experience in Nordic marine environments would be a strong advantage. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple disciplines in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. Strong expertise in operational risk management, SIMOPS planning and operability studies. Fluent English is required as the project working language. Swedish or Norwegian language skills would be a significant advantage. Technical skills required: Expertise in operability studies, including sea-state operability windows and downtime analysis. In-depth knowledge of dynamic positioning systems, offshore lifting and launch systems. Experience in marine fleet management and offshore logistics. Proficiency in planning and project management tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project. Good understanding of geotechnical and hydrodynamic constraints in Nordic marine environments. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for projects in the Baltic Sea, including Natura 2000 zones, seabed protection and water quality standards.
