Description:

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer in our Halifax, Moncton or Fredericton office.
The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited University
  • Approximately 5 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering consulting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven project management skills

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Provide engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (ports, harbours and bridges)
  • Work with diverse teams of discipline managers, engineers, designers and technicians
  • Manage projects and be responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance
  • Act as a technical resource and as a mentor to junior/intermediate staff
  • Write, compile and review technical reports
  • Prepare fee proposals
  • Be a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design activities
  • Maintain quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined
  • Prepare regular project summary reports
  • Encourage growth within the group and increase the general knowledge base throughout the company
  • Develop and sustain long-lasting business relationships with clients
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the field or onsite, promoting a safe working environment
