Description:
GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer in our Halifax, Moncton or Fredericton office.
The successful candidate will have the following:
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited University
- Approximately 5 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering consulting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven project management skills
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:
- Provide engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (ports, harbours and bridges)
- Work with diverse teams of discipline managers, engineers, designers and technicians
- Manage projects and be responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance
- Act as a technical resource and as a mentor to junior/intermediate staff
- Write, compile and review technical reports
- Prepare fee proposals
- Be a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design activities
- Maintain quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined
- Prepare regular project summary reports
- Encourage growth within the group and increase the general knowledge base throughout the company
- Develop and sustain long-lasting business relationships with clients
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the field or onsite, promoting a safe working environment
