Description:
Responsibilities:
In this role, the key responsibilities will include:
- Review of data, assessment of internal and external environment corrosivity and the preparation of reports for materials selection, corrosion management philosophies and material selection diagrams, plus provide advice on chemical treatment, corrosion monitoring and other corrosion management methods;
- To perform corrosion and materials selection studies in accordance with codes and standards used by the client and/or to agreed industry standards;
- To co-ordinate corrosion and material selection activities with other engineering disciplines and client representatives as required to meet project requirements, and to provide input into other disciplines such as Piping, Mechanical and Process during development of designs;
- Perform site inspections of plant and equipment to determine condition and likely rate of deterioration, and hence develop inspection planning recommendations;
- To conduct investigations into failures of a diverse nature of metallic and non-metallic components to determine cause and remedial action, if any;
- Review and advise on weld procedure specifications, qualification testing and inspection requirements;
- Assist with preparation of cathodic protection designs for offshore and onshore facilities, pipelines and tanks; and
- Assist with assessment of coating requirements for a variety of exposure conditions, and prepare coating specifications and coating selection reports as required
To be considered for this role you will need to be degree qualified in a related engineering discipline with 7 to 10 years post-graduate experience in corrosion and materials engineering, preferably in the resources industries, with demonstrated experience within several of the following areas:
- Corrosion engineering, material selection and failure analyses of process equipment, utility systems and pipelines;
- Corrosion resistant alloys, their properties and limitations;
- Conceptual Design, FEED or Detailed Design for Oil & Gas facilities;
- Corrosion theory and material failure modes, corrosion mitigation techniques, chemical treatment, corrosion monitoring and inspection techniques;
- Integrity assessment and corrosion management planning for new and ageing facilities;
- Asset life extension studies;
- A working knowledge of cathodic protection design and installation; and
- Good communication, written and presentation skills and ability to work both as an individual and as part of a team
