We are looking for a full-time Senior Materials Engineer who loves working in a dynamic environment and is excited to grow with a team around advanced additive technologies. As a senior materials engineer with Solvus Global you will work with team members from many fields (mechanical, controls, software, etc.) to identify part-production opportunities, define the material and process challenges, develop the process & procedure, validate the process, and ultimately deploy the process into full production.
As a senior materials engineer on this team, you will especially be responsible for driving rapid innovation in material and process development, as well as interfacing with external customers to ensure that our teams meet their needs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading team activities, developing processing parameters, building large parts for customers, selecting ideal materials, designing fixturing, and driving the business case for advanced manufacturing.

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

  • Must be a US Person according to FAR22 CFR 120.15-US Person
  • 4-10 years of practical experience (or 0-4 with PhD) in technical materials testing & analysis role
  • Experience leading teams in project execution
  • Ability to take and give direction well as well as excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability of interfacing with external customers/vendors and on custom projects
  • Problem solving skills and a desire to develop new skills on the job 

ADVANTAGEOUS ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

  • Degree in Mechanical, Materials or Welding Engineering
  • Experience in additive manufacturing or metallic coatings strongly desired
  • Experience in revenue generation and strong understanding of business value
  • Strong desire to understand both technology and business aspects of engineering
  • Experience with metallographic analysis, mechanical testing, non-destructive evaluation, and/or failure analysis
  • Experience working with/for the US DOD or other government entities
  • WAAM/Wire DED, FSAM, and/or Cold Spray additive manufacturing experience
  • AS9100D and/or ISO 9001 Quality experience
