Description

JOB SUMMARY

Performs the planning, system design, system implementation, system maintenance and support. Effectively interacts with other internal and external teams, including the design engineering, construction management, site engineering and regional operations teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, policies and procedures. Assists in planning day to day operations and strategic direction of delivery of either a Construction project or delivery of operations for a data center facility.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Assists in managing projects or other design and engineering initiatives

System Operation and Work Practices (incl Capacity Planning)

  • Provides guidance on complex maintenance and repairs on engineering systems, and develops SOWs for routine system engineering, design and construction projects, utilizing safe working practices at an EXPERT level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, can explain MSDS, etc.)
  • Works with the capacity and site engineering teams to identify power and cooling limitations and propose potential modifications
  • Assists CFE in Airflow and cooling optimization.
  • Assists OPM in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency projects

Training

  • Provides feedback on training programs
  • Acquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training and shadowing others
  • Provides training to wider team on any changes to Engineering Policies and Procedures

Contract Administration

  • Assists in executing effective contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation

Leadership and Communications (incl Vendor Mgmt)

  • Assists in directing all internal and external project team members
  • Assists in directing external vendors per project or initiative such as General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
  • Internal and external written and verbal communication to include detailed analysis and reports
  • Being an energy Efficiency Champion, the role will require to conduct Energy Review meeting with Equinix Stakeholders

Policy & Procedure Development and Adherence

  • Provides feedback on policies and procedures

Problem Solving

  • Identifies and understands underlying issues; differentiates key elements from the irrelevant or trivial
  • Can identify issues and apply correct rectifications

Technical Expertise

  • Utilizes expert operating knowledge of the relevant engineering systems to diagnose and repair advanced technical difficulties and solve advanced issues
