DESCRIPTION

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take the lead on all assigned aspects of the company’s engineering needs as it relates to advanced applications engineering, product improvement, cost optimization, test lab performance certifications, and technical literature including product specifications. Provide engineering support for new product development, production, and maintenance throughout the complete life cycle of the product. Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering documentation, data collection and analyzation, new product launches and continuous improvement throughout the engineering process.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced hydraulic/mechanical understanding of various types of pumps; especially vertical turbine pumps and their components.
  • Advanced pump applications experience
  • General working knowledge of pumping system components and various configurations for pre-packaged pumping systems design.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree (required).
  • Seven years of related experience (required).
  • Five years of experience in running up to level 2 FEA analysis (required).

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Advanced: Contact management, presentation/PowerPoint, spreadsheet, MS Office, Auto CAD, SolidWorks and/or other engineering design software
  • Intermediate: Word processing/typing, alphanumeric data entry.
  • Basic: 10-key, database, programming languages.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:
  • Regularly subjected to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally subjected to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performance of advanced hydraulic and mechanical engineering duties; including but are not limited to product development, design improvement, production drawings, engineering and services support, failure analysis reporting, project budgeting and tracking, engineering review for active projects and quality control.
  • Mechanical engineering including new pump repair advice pertaining to materials of selection, impeller diameter trimming, overall hydraulic and mechanical performance, material selection, assemblies, and quality control
  • Prepare technical reports of appropriate depth and detail to document product design development, failure analysis and laboratory testing programs
  • Review of design to ensure manufacturability on all projects
  • Engineering duties including visual teardown & inspection analysis/providing probable cause failure reports and engineering work scope repair plansPerforms other duties as assigned
