Job Description

  • Stripping, assessing, repairing and testing mechanical seals, couplings and associated equipment
  • Consistent and timely completion of Service related documentation
  • Scheduling of jobs for repair
  • Complete inspection and test plans consistent with meeting the required corporate compliance standards
  • Collect background operational detail required in order to support engineering assistance in specifying materials for seals for unusual duties or duties not quoted previously
  • Prepare repair work quotations and associated documentation
  • Work with document control systems
  • Assist in root cause analysis investigations
  • Offer troubleshooting advice and reliability solutions in conjunction and collaboration with company technical personnel as required
  • Work with sales and technical support staff in generating business opportunities
  • Arrange and attend client visits as required (Oil & Gas & Mine sites).
  • Development and maintenance of systems and Computer skills as required
  • Conduct training for internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Complete periodic reporting requirements as agreed with management

  • Fitter/Turner or Machinist by Trade.

About Us:

GR Engineering Services Limited (GRES) is a leading process engineering consulting and contracting company that specialises in providing high quality engineering design and construction services to the mining and mineral processing industries.

We currently have multiple projects on the go and our projection for growth means we are actively looking for talent across all areas of our business.

The Opportunity

We are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team working alongside a multidisciplined team to deliver outstanding results across various projects in the mining and minerals industry

Based out of our Brisbane CBD office you would work on various projects across Australia across a variety of commodities ( gold ,copper, iron ore etc) primarily in our Brisbane office but there would be some site visits depending on project requirements

Your typical day will consist of:

  • Delivering mechanical engineering designs for mineral processing equipment including crushing, screening, milling, flotation, thickening and tank systems.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and reviewing deliverables to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews and client workshops.
  • Ensuring engineering deliverables comply with applicable standards, project requirements, safety principles and quality expectations.
  • Leading the mechanical engineering and design of slurry, process water, tailings and dewatering systems across study, detailed design and EPC/EPCM project phases.
  • Performing and reviewing hydraulic calculations, pump sizing and FluidFlow modelling to develop safe, efficient and operable piping systems.
  • Preparing and reviewing P&IDs, piping specifications, line lists, valve schedules and other key mechanical engineering deliverables.
  • Acting as the technical authority for piping engineering, including material selection, slurry service design, valve selection, special piping items and piping class development.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical specifications, datasheets, scopes of work and procurement packages for mineral processing equipment.
  • Reviewing piping layouts, isometrics and 3D models, while providing guidance and direction to piping designers and drafters.

About you :

The ideal candidate will have developed their career within engineering consultancies, EPCM or EPC organisations delivering mining and mineral processing projects and will be recognised for their expertise in slurry and process water systems and detailed design delivery.

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with CPEng and/or RPEQ (or eligibility to obtain).
  • 8+ years' experience delivering mining and minerals processing projects within a consulting, EPCM or EPC environment.
  • Strong expertise in slurry, process water, tailings, dewatering and other wet plant systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian and international piping standards, codes and industry practices applicable to mineral processing facilities.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing hydraulic calculations, pump system designs and FluidFlow models.
  • Demonstrated capability in developing and reviewing P&IDs, piping specifications, valve selections, piping material specifications and related deliverables.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications, datasheets and procurement packages for piping systems, pumps, valves and mineral processing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mineral processing equipment including crushers, screens, mills, flotation cells, tanks, thickeners and pumping systems.
  • Proven ability to review the work of others, provide technical leadership and coordinate mechanical design activities across disciplines.
