THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to our engineering team based in any of our New York State offices (Ithaca, Albany, Farmingdale, Middletown).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar field.
  • 13+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems.
  • Experience with design of building mechanical systems for educational facilities.
  • Licensed New York State Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM with working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Proficiency with building energy modeling concepts and software, preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to work within multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in energy efficient solutions and designs.
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Successful evaluation of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and maintaining a safe driving record as defined by Tetra Tech’s Vehicle Safety program.

Responsibilities
  • Design of building mechanical systems (HVAC) including appropriate system concepts, calculations, energy modeling, layout, sizing, selections, specifications and coordination.
  • Perform site visits of existing mechanical systems for evaluation, or to inspect work in progress or completed.
  • Prepare engineering reports.
  • Review and respond to team members on project design work, RFIs, submittals, and other construction related documents and issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor and control project progress against scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Attend client meetings and assist in marketing efforts.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
