To meet the challenge of growth and opportunities, LayerZero Power Systems is seeking additional Mechanical Engineers to join the engineering team. BACKGROUND We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to support the design and development of next-generation power systems products. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the mechanical integrity, thermal performance, and reliability of Static Transfer Switches and Power Distribution Units. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Lead mechanical design and analysis activities for power systems products including Static Transfer Switches and Power Distribution Units. Support sustaining engineering efforts to improve existing product designs through simulation and test. Perform advanced FEA simulations to assess structural integrity of enclosures, busbars, and mounting assemblies. Drive structural optimization through simulation-based design approaches. Conduct CFD analysis to optimize cooling airflow, temperature rise, and component thermal management in enclosed systems. Drive thermal design improvements through simulation-based design approaches. Validate analytical models through prototype testing and measurement. Contribute to design reviews, establish simulation standards, and coach junior engineers in analysis techniques. Support thermal related field support issues. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATION: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (PhD preferred). • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and simulation for electromechanical systems. • Experience with 3-D CAD tools (Solid Edge preferred) -- Required. • Expert in FEA and CFD. • Strong understanding of thermal management, heat transfer, structural mechanics, and vibration analysis. • Proven experience with design for manufacturability and design for reliability in sheet metal and electro-mechanical assemblies. • Hands-on experience with thermal and vibration testing. • Familiarity with electrical power systems is a strong plus. • Knowledge of UL, IEC, or ANSI standards for power equipment. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. WORK LOCATION: • Onsite in Aurora, OH.
