Directs and coordinates fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance and repair of mechanical machines, equipment, tools, and systems. Ensures that quality levels and industry standards are maintained or improved in the manufacturing process. Evaluates mechanical products to determine their cost effectiveness and efficiency. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, defining, implementing system requirements, analyzing and/or testing Nordson products or modifications to products or manufacturing processes. They are responsible for designing, testing, and implementing production methodology for new and existing products. They may be responsible for providing design input to ensure manufacturing success of new and existing products. They will be engaged in designing, defining, analyzing and/or testing Asymtek and coordinating subsystems and integration of total systems. This individual works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of various factors and exercises judgment and may define practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Role and Responsibilities Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May conduct feasibility studies on new and modified designs. May direct support personnel in preparation of detailed design, design testing, prototype fabrication and/or manufacturing. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Plans and coordinates large projects or several small projects. Applies sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently. Reviews and approves deviations. Reviews supplier Corrective Action Requests to ensure corrective actions are effective. Performs root cause analysis of defects. Drives process improvements in-house. Drives efficiency improvements through process changes, fixturing, training, metrology selection, and design feedback. Other duties may be assigned as required. Skills and Qualifications Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices in this field. Requires BS degree and 7 – 10 years of experience or equivalent relative experience. Must have solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing in a production environment, Lean/Six Sigma training. Familiarity with SAP. Microsoft office, including Visio. Ability to interface with a wide variety of personnel in group and one-on-one settings. Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
