REQUIREMENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Professional Engineering license
  • 12+ years design/engineering experience including prior consulting/client services experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, with clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, Revit, and other drawing technology like Navisworks, Blue beam, Adobe PDF, SketchUp, etc., strong MS Office Suite skills.
  • Knowledgeable of current industry standards ASHRAE, NFPA and ASPE guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and Mentor: Guide, support, and mentor junior engineers and designers. Collaborate with architects to define the mechanical scope of work and contribute to project budgeting and planning discussions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to create detailed engineering documents that align with client requirements and KGEI’s quality standards.
  • Independent Drafting & Documentation: Prepare complete drawing sets using AutoCAD and Revit based on established company templates and design guidelines—no technical supervision required.
  • Mechanical Systems Design: Design a range of mechanical systems including air distribution, split and unitary DX systems, variable air volume (VAV) systems, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, chilled and hot water systems, and neutral temperature hydronic systems.
  • Technical Analysis & Equipment Selection: Perform HVAC and plumbing system calculations such as heating/cooling loads, energy modeling, ventilation rates, static pressure, sound, and domestic hot water demand. Select and size appropriate equipment while coordinating system layout with other disciplines.
  • HVAC & Plumbing Layout: Design and size piping and ductwork for HVAC, hot water, and natural gas systems. Provide detailed cost analyses to support owner and architect decision-making on system selection
